Palmetto United FC is pleased to welcome Carolinas HealthCare System as a Strategic Partner

Today we are officially announcing Carolinas Healthcare System as a strategic partner and Exclusive Healthcare provider of Palmetto United Futbol club.  We will combine our efforts to enhance safety and wellness of our players, our families, and our community.  We simply could not select a better partner to bring compelling value to our membership.  We have already launched the partnership with participation in the Carolinas HealthCare System Healthy Together event held at Ann Close Springs Recreation Center May 30th.  The event was just a sample of the innovative approach Carolinas Healthcare System is putting forth in our community to help prevent illness and injury and to promote fitness and wellness in all ages.  Soccer is a tremendous platform for communicating this important vision.

Carolinas Healthcare System released the following statement:

Carolinas HealthCare System is proud to begin a new community partnership with Palmetto United Futbol Club as part of our ongoing efforts to promote physical activity and wellness among children. Serving as the official healthcare provider for PUFC will allow Carolinas HealthCare System the opportunity to provide services and health education programs to the team, the players and their families in an atmosphere where physical fitness and wellness are already a core part of their daily training programs.

Key elements of this Strategic Partnership and Sponsorship include:

- focus on the 5-2-1-0 program through superhero branding that will help our children understand the daily value of:  5 servings of fruits and vegetables, 2 less hours of screen time, 1 hour of healthy activity, and zero sugar beverages.
- basic medical and life support at key PUFC events including the Carowinds Classic Tournament coming up this August 22-23rd
- complimentary concussion management baseline testing for our players
- CPR Certification for our coaching staff
- PUFC involvement in key CHS events annually

Katherine Finley with over 20 years in healthcare and most recently having served as a Commissioner for Disability and Special Needs for the State of South Carolina will serve as club liason for this partnership.  Let us know if you'd like to join the PUFC health and wellness committee that will kick off with a Mental Health First Aid Class FREE and open to the community.  If interested register quickly as space is limited!!

I wanted to extend an educational opportunity for Mental Health First Aid. Carolinas HealthCare System in partnership with Winthrop University will host two (2) Mental Health First Aid Classes that are FREE and open to the community. They will take place on July 17th and July 24th in 415 Thurmond Building on the campus of Winthrop University. Each participant will only need to attend one (1) of the classes to become Certified in Mental Health First Aid.

Four reasons to learn Mental Health First Aid:

1. MENTAL ILLNESSES ARE COMMON: 1 in 4 adults is affected

2. BE PREPARED: When a mental health crisis happens, you will know what to do

3. YOU CAN HELP: People with mental illnesses often suffer alone

4. YOU CARE: Be there for a friend, family member or colleague

A free lunch will be provided for anyone who registers for the class. Space is limited so please contact me to register. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly.

Thank you,
