PUFC History

Home to Tega Cay, Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Clover, Lake Wylie, Indian Land and York County, South Carolina soccer players. Palmetto United Futbol Club has brought together the strengths and coaching experience from the area to carry us towards maintaining individuals that make a meaningful contribution to the soccer community. WE ARE...PALMETTO!!

From its very beginning, Palmetto Futbol Club has been developing an organization that services our local soccer community. With the dedication and help of every player, parent, coach, administrator and volunteer, we continue to grow as a competitive organization that is loyal to the game and its opportunities. Palmetto Futbol Club brought together the strengths and coaching experience of four area soccer clubs. By concentrating efforts into one organization thus enhancing our youth development program, academy program, select program, field space and competitive training, it carried us towards the goal of maintaining well-balanced individuals that make a meaningful contribution to the soccer community.

One of the original founding clubs, Upper Palmetto Futbol Club (UPFC) was formed during the Fall 2007 soccer season. It started with a U10 Coed Recreational All-Star team that had just completed its tournament season by winning the 2007 SCAP All-Star Tournament. With the success of that tournament, the players, coaches and parents made the decision to officially form a new soccer club in York County, South Carolina. With the goal of developing young players to attain success on and off the soccer field, and through its relationship with Tega Cay Parks and Recreation, soccer players were provided an opportunity to experience all levels of SCYSA play. In June 2008, the Upper Palmetto Futbol Club was affiliated under the South Carolina Youth Soccer Association for players in the area.

Carolina Select Soccer Club, South CarolinaCarolina Select Soccer Club (CSSC), formerly known as Tega Cay Soccer Club, had a long-standing affiliation with Tega Cay Parks & Rec Soccer program. Having previously worked with the Tega Cay Parks & Recreation Soccer program to build a solid foundation for their recreational soccer program, CSSC moved forward in its community involvement to widen its sphere of influence into the surrounding and growing soccer communities. To further their mission of giving back to the communities, CSSC chose to maintain its position as a non-profit organization to ensure that all monies received are used to provide players with an appreciation for the sport by providing progressively higher levels of competition within a safe, supportive and fun teaching environment. CSSC created outstanding players and student-athletes that excel in high school and higher-level soccer programs.

Indian Land Soccer Club, South CarolinaIndian Land Soccer Club (ILSC) has provided the Indian Land soccer community for over a year with an opportunity to participate in a challenging soccer league. ILSC developed strong soccer players of all ages through the highest level of competition, coaching, and training.  Because of their dedicated volunteer coaches, volunteer staff and sponsors, ILSC was able to maintain a quality program for ILSC participants. Additionally, the Indian Land Soccer Club is proud to work closely with the local Indian Land middle and high school soccer programs in order to enhance both the ILSC program and help to prepare our Indian Land soccer players for school based soccer programs.

Inter-Catawba Futbol Club formed last fall to offer club soccer experience for players in the Lake Wylie and Clover area. Among their many accomplishments, ICFC provided a home for over 175 players that experienced success with teams winning tournaments and placing high in the state and national rankings. ICFC has been dedicated to the growth and enrichment of its participating members within the game of soccer. Their goals have been achieved through passionate, dedicated and professional members, eager to provide quality training and coaching in a safe and positive environment.

Creative Player Soccer Learning System was adopted as the club-wide learning curriculum for the 2014-2015 season evolving the level and focus of play to a more dynamic style -  building from the back with the Goal Keeper as an integral field player, with ball on the ground, away from pressure, look and see the field, and diagonal lines of movement philosophy.  Utilizing the Dynamic Movement and Control (DMAC) system and involving the Creative Player founders and Co-OwnersDaniel Araujo and John Pietak will forever change the style of play of Palmetto.  Performance utilizing Creative Player has led to the current #8 ranked Premier Region III U16 Boys team and a recent U15 Boys State Cup Championship, plus a State Cup runner-up U14 Boys finish to the 2015-2016 season.  The U14 Girls team was also promoted to Challenge for the 2016-2017 season.  With Creative Player the club has embraced diversity and will continue to embrace diversity, incorporating our inner-city talent and keeping soccer affordable for the player and families.  Palmetto is proud to have players of worldwide diversity including Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England, Japan, Uruguay, Venezuela, Argentina, Peru, India, and Mexico.

A new partnership with Charlotte United (CUFC) starting with the 2016-2017 tryouts in May 2016 has  the Charlotte Soccer community abuzz with excitement.  Bill Finneyfrock, Founder and Executive Director of Charlotte United will serve as Palmetto's Director of Coaching and Steve Magee, CUFC Director of Soccer, will bring his considerable organizational and leadership skills in soccer to Palmetto.  Palisades Soccer Park will be the new home dedicated complex for the club - four beautiful, soccer only (no LAX), lighted fields just over the SC border.  Charlotte United brings 20 years of soccer leadership in the Charlotte area to the relationship.  The  excitement starts now with the 2016-2017 season.  WE ARE...PALMETTO!!

Palmetto United Futbol Club is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.
