Andy S Kaplan,  Director of Coaching - Youth Development Academy

Andy Kaplan has been involved in sports his entire life as both a player and coach.  He also has a deep knowledge of and passion for strength, agility and general fitness training. He received his undergraduate degree in coaching & sports administration from University of Florida and an MBA from Georgia Southern University. Andy’s first coaching experience was as a volunteer soccer coach for the Gainesville YMCA when he was a freshman in college. He continued to volunteer his time throughout college. After graduating from University of Florida he took a job as the Athletics Director for a large sports & fitness organization in North Miami, FL., eventually became the Association Director over the entire facility & program. While in this role, Andy focused on creating a program structure and philosophy built around player development rather than simply organizing leagues for parent-led teams. This included requiring paid and volunteer coaches to help design and follow a program-specific curriculum and philosophical framework for each sport offered. The association also recruited and employed full-time professional coaches to establish programs designed to provide players with the opportunity to compete on regional and national levels in soccer, tennis, basketball, swimming, gymnastics and martial arts.

During his time in South Florida, Andy fell in love with the “international” game of soccer. He had the opportunity to meet, work with and learn from ex-professional players and coaches from South America, Africa and Europe who introduced him to a variety of styles of play and coaching philosophies. After eight years in the sports association industry, Andy changed directions and began a career in business consulting. He currently works in the healthcare industry. Over the past 20 years, Andy has continued to be involved in soccer as both a volunteer board member and coach. He served in several BOD positions, including President, for Coastal Georgia Soccer Association for over 10 years. He has coached club and high school soccer for kids ages 5-18. His club teams always competed at the highest state level in Georgia. His high school teams consistently attained top-5 status statewide. Over 30 of Andy’s high school and club players went on to play soccer in college. Andy has advanced soccer coaching licenses through USSF and NSCAA as well as a variety of youth basketball certifications and licenses.
