CSA Merger creates CSA Palmetto

Charlotte Soccer Academy are excited to announce the expansion of their program following the merger with CUFC
creating CSA Palmetto for the 2018-‐2019 season. CSA Palmetto will be headed up by Sheldon Russell, who started with
Palmetto United in 2013 and recently has been a coach on the older girls’ side for CUFC. Russell played for Cornwall
College in Jamaica and then on to the Violet Kickers, the local Premier League team. CSA Palmetto’s older teams (15U-‐
19U) will continue to participate in the South Carolina Youth Soccer Association league and host practices and games at
the Palisades Park location.

The merger of CUFC and CSA has created a club that is inclusive for all children in the region and provides access to
soccer that is not limited by location, socioeconomics, or skill level. The new structure will offer more options for youth
players to compete at appropriate levels of play near their home while also allowing for growth within the club and the
opportunity to compete at the highest levels in all age groups at State, Regional and National competitions. We are
certain the merged organization will have the finest coaching and practice/game facilities in the region. Additionally, CSA
is committed to getting our players technically more comfortable on the ball and quicker, faster and stronger by offering
regional technical training programs to all players. The merger of the clubs created many new avenues for youth players
from the recreation level to the national level and provides the coaching, training and infrastructure to ensure the best
opportunities for each player.

“We look forward to working with the CSA Palmetto families and invite each family to a pre-‐tryout meeting to meet the
directors and learn more about CSA, our mission and our structure,” states Brad Wylde, Executive Director. The meeting
will be held Tuesday, April 24th at 7:45pm at The Palisades training and game facility. The tryout schedule and
information can be found on the CSA website or by clicking here. To learn more about Charlotte Soccer Academy, visit
